The Zonal Method User's Guide & Fixing Tables
Sandtoft has published its guide to roof tile fixings using the Zonal Method, an essential guide to ensuring that roof systems are securely fixed and in
accordance with regulations.
Based on The 'Zonal Method Users Guide' a joint publication prepared by the technical committees of the National Federation
of Roofing Contractors (NFRC), the Concrete Tile Manufacturers' Association (CTMA)
and the Clay Roof Tile Council (CRTC), Sandtoft’s guide reflects the simplification
of the calculations defined in BS 5534 ‘Code of practice for Slating and Tiling’
used for obtaining a fixing specification for roof tiles.
Sandtoft’s Guide offers a fixing specification using the Zonal Method that is self explanatory and specific to Sandtoft tiles thus providing reassurance
and time saving benefits for the designer or contractor.
For projects or tile types that fall outside the scope of the Zonal Method, or where it is necessary to apply individual parameters in accordance with
BS 5534, Sandtoft Technical Support can still provide individual site-specific
fixing recommendations using the full calculation method
Sandtoft provides a free fixing specification calculation service known as Fixing
SPEC. Because of the complexities involved in producing fixing specifications,
particularly in gathering the required information for each project, we have developed
a new software programme that derives much of the data required from the postcode
of the particular site. This saves you from having to find information such as
distance from the sea, altitude, etc.
Sandtoft will calculate fixing requirements for your particular project. All
we require is some simple information, which can be supplied by completing our
Fixing SPEC Enquiry below.
If you require assistance with any aspect of your specification please do not
hesitate to contact the
Sandtoft Technical Support team.
The normal turnaround for Fixing SPEC's is twenty four hours. If you haven't
had a reply within this time please call the technical support department on 0870
145 2021.
