In 2008, Charlton Farm, a project which used Sandtoft's Gaelic clay roof tile
was awarded 'Best New-Build' by the Clay Roof Tile Council. The council refers
to this project as a derelict farm which is now, thanks to the refurbishment,
a sanctuary for children with life-limiting illnesses and their families and an
excellent example of a new build project working in harmony with existing buildings.

Sandtoft Gaelic tiles were chosen because the natural clay used to manufacture
these tiles has ensured that the roof of each building blends with the surrounding
architecture.
